Bella Jett

Hi Tigers! It’s Bella and I am running to be your ASB President for 2023!
A teacher of mine once told me I am the type of person who “takes initiative during classwork and projects, while giving others space to express their ideas”. He told me leaders don’t just have great ideas but also know how to let quiet voices be heard and leverage ideas from everyone. I understand this job is bigger than me and I rely on your guys' input. Being in this position lets me put your guys' ideas into motion, fight for change, and communicate with the whole student body and admin. As ASB president I would be working hard to create a safe, fun, and equitable environment where people feel able to grow.
While I do love school and all the opportunities it's given me, the connections I have made with students, and teachers, I won’t sit here and say I wanna be president because school is perfect and how much I love it. I am a regular student like anyone else and I experience similar things, struggles, and even get confused but, I know there is more we could be doing to make it better and I know with this position I can directly create change.
I have struggled with depression for years and constantly been let down by the school system slipping through the cracks. What kept me afloat was my friends, classmates, the events that gave me a reason to get out of my house, and teachers. High school can be hard and feel like it's kicking you down, but I believe each student has something really good to offer and no matter who they are they deserve a good experience here and chance to express themselves.
I hope I will be someone you feel comfortable coming up to, thank you for taking the time to read and consider me as ASB President :)

Elsa Santana

Hey THS! My name is Elsa Santana and I am running for your 2023 ASB President next year! I am so excited to connect with you all through this position and continue to fight for your inclusivity and voice throughout the whole school year.
Some of the projects I’ve worked on this year include:
  • Once a month week-long cultural affinity events and the Voices Assembly hosted by the ASB Human Rights Committee
  • A successful paper bag drive for the Hunger Fighters through Tigard High Service Club
  • And giving back to underprivileged and marginalized communities through the Multnomah Outreach Group, a teen non-profit organization!
One of the reasons I’m running for ASB President is so that I, as a Latina first-gen student, get the opportunity to represent and become a support system for other students of color and unrepresented groups at THS. I want to create a space for those who traditionally don’t have a platform to express themselves on. And most importantly I’m confident in my ability to understand the needs of my peers and recognize the importance of our student involvement and voice in our school.
I hope to catch your vote May 2nd to May 5th! If you stand with your individuality and your self-expression, vote Elsa Santana! Si se puede!! Thank you!

Kayla Kumm

Hey Tigers, Kayla Kumm here! I’m running to be ASB President for the 2022-23 school year and I would love your support and vote!
Here’s what I plan on doing as ASB President:
  • Creating better communication between the student body and leadership, especially for those who don’t have social media! To do so, I plan on creating a remind (that will be optional to join) for the whole school.
  • Bring back winter formal (even when there is a Homecoming).
  • Make it so students with ASB stickers enjoy other perks that aren’t just free entrance into sporting events and reduced dance tickets!
  • Monthly student council meetings so YOU, the student body, can tell leadership what you want!
  • For the students who don’t feel comfortable going to student council meetings, I plan to create an anonymous feedback form to give leadership feedback.
  • From all this input, I plan on creating more events for THS students, based on what YOU, the student body, want!
    • An example could be bringing back tailgates before THS football games!
  • Hold the leadership class more accountable so that leadership-run events are more organized, frequent, and communication is timely.
  • Create a designated area of THS to hang flyers so that students can go to one area to learn what's coming up instead of randomly placed flyers that are never taken down.
Tigers, I would absolutely love to support and represent you next year so vote KAYLA KUMM for ASB president!

Rock the vote!
