Angela Martinez LopezHi Tigers!
My name is Angela Martinez Lopez, I am Mexican-American and happily part of the Two Way Immersion program. I would love to be able to help out the Tigard high school community as much as possible to try and make it a better, more inclusive and diverse place for everyone. So that everyone feels welcomed. Here are some of my goals:

Aubrey BaileyHi Tigard! I’m Aubrey Bailey and I am running for sophomore class officer. I am a member of the Tigerettes Dance team, and the Tigard High Sparrow Club. Next year, I’d like to be a part of Tigard High School's leadership as well, and represent you! I have leadership experience through the THS leadership class and I was a WEB leader at Twality middle school. I want to be a sophomore class officer because I want to make sure people’s thoughts and opinions are valued at Tigard High. I would make a great ASB officer because I’m organized, thoughtful, and dedicated to matters I strongly believe in. You should vote for me for sophomore class officer because I will take the time to hear your opinions and ensure your voice is heard! Don’t forget to Vote Aubrey for sophomore class officer this year!

Cali RuttenHi my name is Cali Rutten and I am so excited for the opportunity to serve as one of your sophomore class officers! A little bit about me is that I am on the Tigard dance team, I go to Westside Dance Academy, and I enjoy choir. I love being involved in school and love to show my pride at THS. Participating in spirit outs is one of my favorite things! I also love writing and design and build! But most of all, I love connecting and socializing with new people. I’m looking forward to this opportunity to make a difference and to serve as a voice for the sophomore class!

Emilia Tapia I want to be a class officer because I want to benefit my school community and peers. As class officer I would give ideas on how we could bring more attention to the smaller things such as giving more recognition to students who show they are exceptionally inclusive and kind. I also want to bring more attention towards mental health and what we can do to better that situation at THS. One of the other things that has crossed my mind before is how little funding clubs and other activities receive. One of my friends told me how the robotics club barely receives funds and brought that to my attention. I would like to bring that stuff to the attention of other students and what they could do to support it. I know being a class officer is a role where I can showcase my kindness, creativity and problem solving skills and put them to good use for the benefits of my school and peers.
What can I do to make a difference at THS? Well one of the things that inspired me to apply for this position was the lack of representation and diversity in sports at THS. I noticed a lot of my friends and classmates were too scared to try out or did not want to simply for that same reason lack of diversity. This issue really stuck out for me because it’s something I can relate to also. Here at THS i’m on the dance team as well as the track team. As a Mexican American I don’t really see anyone like me doing those things, and even though that’s never stopped me it still feels like a different experience. No one should have to feel like they don’t want to join for that reason, so I want to advocate for that and show people that they should join the team so we can help make our school more inclusive and to make everyone feel welcome. |
Isabel CastellanosHi Tigard!
My name is Isabel Castellanos and I am someone who believes in listening to everyone’s thoughts and opinions. I used to get nervous about talking and sharing my own opinions with others until I overcame that fear. And with me as one of the class officers I can assure people that their voice and opinion will be heard and won’t be ignored. My main goal is to get peoples thoughts to be heard when it comes to talking about Tigard High School. They deserve to have an opinion on what goes on in their very own school. By being one of the class officers I can make sure that ideas that people have and want to share anonymously or publicly, are going to be heard. Although voting for me may not seem like a huge contribution, in reality it truly is. I can make a difference at Tigard and it all starts with your very own vote. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to earn your vote! |
Kayla MoonHi, I am Kayla Moon and I want to help Tigard become a more student-spoken school and safe environment. I believe I am a good leader that can help further our student body’s confidence and leadership. I want to incorporate conversations about current ideas in our school to further understand the school’s climate. Making ASB grounded by student opinions and being able to get ideas to help make decisions for Tigard. With this, ASB will be more understood throughout the school.
Most importantly I want to make our student body more confident and comfortable leaders. Being a class officer I hope to hear your ideas and spread awareness of your ambitions! I hope to make a positive impact on Tigard high school, like everyone else and of course to have fun doing it!! |

Moss WeigelAyukîi (hello) tigers!
I am Moss Weigel, and I am very dedicated to making sure that everyone has their voices heard, and taken into consideration when it comes to making decisions. As someone who’s usually the youngest at meetings, I was the one who made sure that us lower classmen got representation! If I am elected as a sophomore class officer, here are my goals: - Better communication with the Student Body - Allowing the student body to have more time to prepare/plan for events. - Aiming for at least a week in advance when announcing upcoming events - Giving out a little more information about events, ex. Location. - Creating a calendar that is centralized and has ALL of the events that are happening at school (sports, dances, club meetings, affinity groups, performances, spirit weeks, etc.) - Advocating for input from all - Getting to know more of our peers better - Small talk, to understand others perspectives and feedback - Ensuring that us lowerclassmen are represented when it comes to decision making. - Having all of the work done to the best of our ability - Pushing myself and others to their limits (in a positive way) to ensure that the outcome of the work is the best that we can do. - Always double checking work before sending it out to the Student Body - Making sure that me and other officers know what we’re talking about. Thank you for reading my blurb, about me and the goals that I have! :D |
Rebecca KhosravaniMy name is Rebecca Khosravani and I’m running for sophomore class officer for the 23-34 school year! As a second generation Iranian American, I’ve dealt with the struggles of being a student and I know how important it is to be supported by my peers and staff in the school environment, but how difficult it can be.
In addition to having seen these issues firsthand: - I’m a part of the Tigard High AVID program - I’m member of the Student Equity pillar - I’m also an intern for Lents Youth Initiative and nonprofit organization called Trash For Peace - vice president of the THS Menasa affinity group - I’ve also been involved in Tigard High track and field, speech and debate and lots of community service work. Using the experience I’ve gained in these programs, I can work to break the boundaries that prevent students from being able to accomplish their goals, while simultaneously fostering a safe, comfortable space where everyone can learn and thrive while being able to represent themselves. I value diversity and diversifying our sports and clubs and I want everyone to feel welcome, regardless of ethnic background, religion or anything that makes students feel undrrepresented. I have experienced and understand how difficult gaining opportunities is as an athlete and student of color. My goal is to make opportunities for success and resources more accessible for students, predominantly the underrepresented and underserved students who have a harder time gaining those opportunities. As someone who advocates for many minority communities and underrepresented organizations, something I value and would like to focus on as an officer would be giving students a chance to voice their concerns. I would like to work on more representative events, such as a multicultural week for every affinity group. Giving every culture and group a chance to be portrayed proudly and individually while allowing other students to learn about them is very important to me and would be one of my top priorities. I also value school spirit and creating a fun environment where everybody can participate. I’d also like to continue Unity Week and make it more consistent throughout the year, but with more themes and new approaches, as well as more resources for people struggling with mental health. This would have a major impact on the way students see and interact with each other. I’m looking forward to creating more hands-on activities throughout the year, like the previous workshops during Unity Week because I know how engagement and inclusion go hand in hand. Thank you so much for reading and please vote for me for your sophomore class officer!!! |
Yessenia Sotelo VargasHello, my name is Yessenia Sotelo Vargas. I am currently a Freshman at THS. I am 15 years old. My favorite hobbies are hanging out with my friends, and just in general getting out in good weather. Growing up I've always been quite shy. I mainly only talk with close friends but sometimes I will speak up. I chose to campaign for class officer because I hope to be able to make THS a better place. I also hope that I can show everyone what a good leader at THS can do. There’s been many things dealt with at THS, and I hope to be able to put an end to some of those. I hope to have your help so together as a team, we can all put a stop to these situations and make THS a better place. A leader isn’t just one singular person, but it's all of us. We all are leaders. And together we can all make a difference at Tigard High School. Keep On Rocking Tigard Tigers!
